As much as we enjoy our healthy, happy goats, an emergency can happen suddenly. A goat can go down quickly and we sometimes have a small window of opportunity to save it. Whether you call your vet, a friend or post online, good communication is essential and can save valuable time.
No one here is a vet. We are a group of goat owners with knowledge and experience who can offer you advice and options concerning your sick goat. We ask that you try to answer as many of the questions as possible in your first post because knowing what you're dealing with in detail can better help us assist you.
What is the goat's temperature?
What are the symptoms? How long have you had this problem?
What treatment has been administered so far and when?
Do you vaccinate? With what medicines and when were they administered?
Does this include worming? What wormer was used?
Have you seen your goat poop or pee? When? Was it normal?
Is this a doe, buck or kid? What breed and age?
Have there been any recent changes in the goat's feed, location, housing or
anything that might cause a disruption?
What are you feeding?
Is your buck peeing? Is your doe pregnant? Is your kid nursing?
