Do not heat in microwave
Single Recipe
1/4C whipping cream (you can use PET Evaporated milk in place of whipping cream)
1 large egg (whipped - not left as it comes from the shell)
1cup non fat dry milk
3 cups of water
which makes 30 oz..
If you want to double it
2 eggs
1/3 cup whipping cream
6 cups hot water
2 cups nonfat dry milk
Triple Recipe
3 eggs
3 cups powdered milk
1/4 cup whipping cream
Plus
1/3 cup whipping cream
2 cups water
Mix in blender
Add to 7 cups of water (9 cups water total)
This makes about 3/4 of a gallon
4 x the amount
4 eggs
2/3 cup whipping cream
12 cups hot water
4 cups nonfat dry milk
Again, best if mixed in a blender then add water
This is not to be used to replace colostrum on the day of birth. Remember the kid must have a minimum of 1 oz of colostrum per lb of body weight in the first 12 hrs of birth, then gradually change them over to the formula.
Schedule for working goat moms
1-2 day old kids should receive 4 to 6 ounces 4 times a day
3-7 day old kids 8-10 ounces 3 times a day
1-2 week old kids 12- 14 ounces 3 times a day
3-6 week old kids 16-20 ounces 2 times a day
7-8 weeks 20 ounces two times a day
depending on when you choose to wean ( most do so at 12 weeks some do so at 10) you
can gradually start decreasing the amount of milk over the last 2 weeks.
Schedule for at home goat moms
1-2 day old kids should receive 18 to 24 oz a day, best if broken in 2 oz feedings (9 to 12 feedings a day)
3-7 day old kids = 24 to 30 oz a day - gradually increase feedings from 2 oz each to 6 oz (5 or 6 feedings a day)
~~~~Start keeping feed and hay where the kid can get to it free choice
1-2 week old kids = 36 to 42 oz a day gradually increasing feedings from 6 oz each to 14 oz each over the two week period
.......This is 6 feedings a day - start combining feedings to decrease number of feedings to 3
~~~~By the end of the 2 weeks kid should be going after both feed and hay
3-6 week old kids = 3 feedings a day, working down to 2 a day - no more than 16 a feeding working to two 20 oz feedings
7-8 weeks 20 ounces two times a day (they should be eating grain and hay quite well by now)
If you choose to wean at 12 weeks you can increase each feeding by up to 4 oz for weeks 9, and 10, starting to wean at week 11 by decreasing both bottles by 2 oz each feeding
If you choose to wean at 10 weeks you can decrease each feeding by up to 1 oz for weeks 8, and 9,then decrease by 1 oz a day till no more milk
