help with fecal identity

Postby Donna on Sat Mar 28, 2009 12:33 pm

I don't know if this is gonna come through, but if it does, can anyone identify this? It is on a fecal ran on a 3 year old doe here in SC. The fecal was done twice and it is showing up in pretty high numbers. No one around seems to be able to tell us what it is.

WOW!!! Cool pictures!
I did a little research as I have not seen anything like this either. What I have come up with is a Strongyloides which is mulitlping which would explain the cell division. I think I would pull another fecal and take to the vet, especially since you are seeing alot of these. I would treat with a wormer, but would really think a vet opinion on this one would be wise.

Well, so far it is looking a lot like the picture of "pine pollen" in the Foreyt's Veterinary Paristiology reference manual. It is in section 16, "Commom Artifacts in Feces". Does anyone have this reference manual that can look at it and tell me if you agree or disagree?

Thanks a bunch!

Yes, the area around here is nothing BUT pine trees! Thanks for confirming for me.
