Cocci Treatment

Postby LBrown on Wed Jan 28, 2009 4:46 am

I need instructions for Cocci treatment for a l month old kid. He is a bottle baby who lost his mother two weeks ago. He is stressed I know. He grieved badly when he lost his mom. He has a brother who is doing fine. I have Corrid on hand.

Lloyd, hopefully Yvonne will see this before she goes to work cause I do not know the dosage for Corid. I tried looking it up (googleing it) and no site would give any real dose, all I found was goats get 10 times the dose of cattle. I do know that if you are going to use corid you need to follow it with a dose of thiamine about 30 minutes after giving the corid. This is because the corid strips the goat of thiamine causing polio. Because of this I use Sulmet or DiMethox instead. Sulmet runs just under $10 a bottle at our CoOp and the dose for it is 1 cc per 5lb on day one and 1 cc per 10 lb on day 2 thru 14.

Lloyd it has been so many years since I used Corid that I don't even have the treatment dosage for it anymore. I strongly suggest that you follow Kendra's suggestion on the Sulmet. Corid just isn't all that effective and like Kendra said it can cause polio.
The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.

They still have a little diarea but other than that they are doing fine. Thanks for asking Jamie.

Good job, buddy! :thumb3:
Did you ever figure out the dose on the Corid or did you try something else?
